THE BAND is the most versatile party band in the Bay Area, for anything from an intimate cocktail party to a large formal wedding. From a trio to the full seven-piece group, THE BAND plays pop, standards, Italian, Jewish, Irish, Salsa – you name it! And our special arrangements of the classic swing tunes bring you the big band sound with only seven pieces. DIABLO STREET JAZZ BAND plays traditional Dixieland Jazz. The soaring cornet, the flight of the clarinet, the banjo laying down those great chords, a “tailgate” trombone and the foundation of a real tuba – DIABLO STREET JAZZ BAND gives a party, a street fair, or a summer concert a great lift. We play regularly at summer festivals around the Bay Area, and our great authentic sound always has the crowds jumping. Jud Flato was born and raised in New York City, and spent his formative years playing every style of music on the New York “club date” scene. Summers in the show bands of the Borscht Belt, winters playing weddings, bar mitzvahs and parties all over the city – he has played every style of music on both reeds and keyboards. Jud is an accomplished arranger and has written big band charts for everything from pop tunes to salsa. He has published a collection of “Little Big Band” vocal accompaniment charts and provided arrangements for vocalists on both coasts. Jud also was an accompanist for legendary klezmer clarinetist Naftule Brandwein and other famous performers on the Yiddish stage. He brings a wealth of experience to all types of music.
