KATRINA WREEDE STRING GROUPS
Classical and jazz string trio, duo, and solo.
Private concerts of classical, jazz and
original compositions.

Katrina Wreede and her ensembles provide elegant classical and jazz string
music for all special occasions. She has 25 years experience pleasing the
most discriminating brides and guests in the Bay Area's most prestigious
venues. She has performed for many international corporations, from Apple
Computer to Coca-Cola to Lucent Technologies, for American and foreign
dignitaries, even for the royal family of Liechtenstein, Governor
Schwartzenegger, First Lady Nancy Reagan, and Senator Diane Feinstein. She
has also performed with luminaries like Johnny Mathis, Smoky Robinson, Sarah
Brightman, Tony Bennett, the Moody Blues, Page and Plant, John Denver,
Bernadette Peters, and Natalie Cole.
Katie and her musicians have provided the music for many hundreds of wedding
ceremonies and corporate events, from traditional cathedral services and
Jewish ceremonies to backyard gatherings and mountain top vows. She takes
pride in custom tailoring each event¹s selections to the client's special
needs, tastes and budget. On the lighter side, she has played a real
"fiddler on a roof" (on a roof) and performed grand openings of a parking
garage, a garden gazebo, a new Mercedes car model, serenaded a corporate
dinner held at a Burger King, performed for a surprise marriage proposal
where the bride-to-be thought she was a burglar, and even in an elf suit
making balloon animals.
In addition to her special event music, Katie is also a recognized composer
and performer in the classical and jazz arenas. During her tenure with the
ground-breaking Turtle Island String Quartet, she toured on three continents
and in 41 states, appearing on Entertainment Tonight and CNN International,
performing at both Carnegie Hall and the Blue Note Jazz Club in New York in
the same year. She has one gold record, and her music is performed by
orchestras and ensembles internationally.
She was "Composer in the Schools" for the American Composers Forum from
1998-2004 and teaches music and composition both privately and as a Visiting
Artist at schools like Boston Conservatory, the Clairbourn School, and
Berklee College of Music. She is a contributing author for the 2005
American String Teachers Association book, "Teaching the Viola" and is a
regular contributor to several national magazines that feature string music
and musicians. For 2005 she was the recipient of a grant to be "Composer in
Residence" with the Rafer Johnson Middle School Symphonic Band, in rural
Kingsburg. Katie is also former faculty at Santa Clara University and has
performed with the Oakland Symphony, the San Jose Symphony, Women¹s
Philharmonic, and the Santa Cruz Symphony as well as playing for many
recordings, commercials, and film sound tracks.
