MarlinaTeich is a San Francisco-based jazz guitarist and singer specializing in swing, bebop, show tunes, and jazz standards. She plays solo, duo or combo. Marlina started out as a blues musician and got introduced to jazz in her childhood through Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole and Count Basie to name a few. Marlina has performed in big bands for over ten years in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has also performed in many solo, duo and combo situations for many years. Marlina performs regularly with Ed Williams, bass, Junius Simmons, guitar and mentor, and Renzel Merritt on drums. Marlina is the Founding Director of JAZZHEIMER’S - an organization that provides professional jazz musicians to patients with Alzheimer’s in convalescent homes.
Marlina also plays Italian and Classical mandolin as a strolling soloist or duo with guitar or accordian. Most recently, she has been performing in North Beach at the Purple Onion with an Italian band, and plays first chair for a mandolin orchestra in San Francisco.
Marlina has performed internationally at the Sandals resorts in Jamaica; wineries in Napa and the surrounding area; hotels, such as the Hyatt Regency, Fairmont Hotel, Mark Hopkins Hotel; jazz festivals, such as the Cotati Jazz Festival; the Great American Music Hall; restaurants; as wells as many appearances at prisons, institutions, and convalescent hospitals in California. She has recorded for commercial radio and television. She has recently been featured on KPOO radio station in San Francisco on the Johnny Brooklyn Rhythm and Blues Show. Her quartet will be featured on KGO March 28th.
